Oak View Group partners with BIG Digital to deploy portable fan engagement and sustainable ePaper displays across North American venues.
Oak View Group has struck a deal with BIG Digital that centers on portable fan engagement tools and sustainable display technology for venues across North America.
Under the agreement, OVG named BIG Digital its preferred Portable Fan Engagement Technology and Sustainable Display Technology partner, setting up a framework for the companies to pursue new digital experiences across the venue operator’s portfolio. The effort is aimed at improving the fan experience, creating new sponsorship opportunities, and modernizing venue communications.
BIG Digital’s technology includes portable displays and interactive kiosks that can be moved throughout a venue without permanent infrastructure. According to the announcement, those screens can be deployed in entrances, concourses, premium lounges, outdoor plazas, and other high-traffic areas depending on the event. The systems can support wayfinding, live event information, contests, gamification, and sponsor activations.
"OVG is always looking for technologies that improve the guest experience while creating meaningful value for venues and partners", said Dan Griffis, President, Global Partnerships at Oak View Group. "BIG Digital’s combination of fan engagement capabilities, sponsorship activation solutions and sustainability-focused technologies aligns well with our vision for the future of venue operations."
Sustainability is also a central part of the partnership. BIG Digital will serve as OVG’s preferred Sustainable Display Technology partner, with portable and solar-powered ePaper displays positioned as an alternative to temporary printed signage. BIG Digital said its remotely managed ePaper technology can use up to 99% less energy than traditional digital displays while allowing venues to update messaging on the fly.
"BIG Digital is bringing OVG the future of sustainable event signage, featuring portable and solar-powered ePaper solutions designed to eliminate print waste and redefine sustainable venue communications", said BIG Digital CEO Jake Neiman.
The companies also said the technology could expand how sponsors connect with fans beyond static signage. BIG Digital’s systems are designed to support interactive campaigns and measurable engagement, offering brands additional activation opportunities throughout an event.
The company has previously worked with organizations across sports and entertainment including the NFL, NBA, PGA TOUR, Live Nation, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and Tennis Canada.
"Partnering with Oak View Group represents an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of fan engagement across some of the industry’s most respected venues", said Matthew Diamond, Chief Growth Officer of BIG Digital.
He added that the partnership is aimed at delivering "better experiences for fans, stronger opportunities for sponsors and more flexible tools for venue operators."
OVG and BIG Digital said they will now look for opportunities to deploy the technology across OVG venues and properties throughout North America, with a focus on making venue communications more dynamic and creating more ways for fans and sponsors to interact inside venues.
