Cloudflare launches open-source AI workspace for companies

Cloudflare said it is launching Cloudflare OS, an open-source AI workspace designed to give employees secure access to AI tools and internal company systems without requiring new infrastructure or lengthy custom development.

The company announced the launch in a press release dated August 4, 2026, saying the software runs on Cloudflare’s global network and is available now through its open-source repository. Cloudflare also said organizations will soon be able to access Cloudflare OS directly through Cloudflare or work with implementation partners including Presidio and Happy Cog to tailor deployments.

Built from Cloudflare’s internal use

According to the company, Cloudflare OS began as an internal platform used by its own workforce. Cloudflare said thousands of employees across teams use it each day for research, document creation tied to live data, task automation, and building working apps for day-to-day jobs.

Cloudflare described the product as a response to what it sees as a gap in typical enterprise AI tools, which it said often lack knowledge of a company’s internal systems, approval processes, and operating context. The company said Cloudflare OS is based on the idea that a business can capture its knowledge, processes, and ways of working once in a form that AI can execute, and make that available in each employee’s workspace.

Security, permissions and model flexibility

Cloudflare said the workspace is browser-based and intended to be usable without developer expertise. It also said employees can turn outputs into working apps with isolated databases, real-time capabilities, and access controls.

The company said security and governance are built into the platform by default. It said Cloudflare OS is built on Cloudflare Access, which verifies every user and every request before access is granted. Cloudflare added that AI agents begin with zero permissions and receive only the access needed for a specific task. It also said governed connectors called Gatekeepers let internal system owners control what AI can view or change and when human approval is required.

Cloudflare said organizations can use any AI model provider through Cloudflare AI Gateway, rather than being tied to a single vendor. It also said administrators can track spending by person, team, or app, and set budgets, rate limits, or route routine tasks to smaller models.

Partner deployments for complex environments

Cloudflare said it is working with global systems integrators to adapt Cloudflare OS for customer environments with specific industry, technology, and compliance requirements.
